Dr. Cyanna Howden grew up in the Fall River Valley surrounded by an assortment of animals that gave her a desire to pursue a career in animal care. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in biology at University of the Pacific in Stockton. Upon graduation, she became a registered veterinary technician and worked at a Redding Veterinary Hospital for three years. In 2003, she moved to Southern California to attend Western University College of Veterinary Medicine. Once graduated, Dr. Howden moved back to the Redding area, where she began work at Haven Humane as their chief medical officer in 2007. There, she enjoyed 15 years of amazing staff, furry friends, pet parents, rescue, and a rigorous surgical load.
Dr. Howden joined VCA Care Animal Hospital in March 2022 as medical director. Her passion for veterinary medicine, patient care, clients and staff is apparent throughout the work that she does. Dr. Howden has a son and daughter, two cats, one tripod chocolate Lab and 21 chickens. In her spare time, she enjoys being a mom, travel, country concerts, working out, and spending time with family and friends.
