Mary Alice Shannon joined the Causeway Animal Hospital family in January 1995, after leaving the human side of medicine to work with animals. Her duties include managing all areas of the practice. She has always had a passion for animals since she was a child and she always had a family dog.

Mary Alice was born in Baton Rouge, but has been native to the New Orleans area since 1960. She has had the opportunity to live in several states and countries because her father was a dentist in the U.S. Army. She is a graduate of Riverdale High School and attended Phillips Junior College where she received her degree.

Mary Alice lives in Metairie with her husband of 45 years Wayne and four children: Kelley, Robin, Timothy, and Jamie. They have six grandchildren (Julia, Jenna, Evelyn, Frank, Ted, and Austin) and 3 grand dogs that she adores (Rockie, Mazie, and Neigel) who are owned by her children.
