Sandy Lepitre
Veterinarian DVM

Dr. Sandy Lepitre has been with Highlands for more than 15 years and has 35 years of experience as a veterinarian. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (Saskatoon) in 1979, spent her first year working on Vancouver Island, then moved to a very busy practice in Surrey where she received extensive surgical experience. The lure of the ocean and the mountains brought her to North Vancouver and eventually to Highlands.

Dr. Lepitre’s particular interest is in dermatology. She has attended many hours of continuing education to gain additional expertise. Allergies are extremely frustrating for both owners and patients and require a careful detailed workup to diagnose correctly. In many cases there is a lifetime of managing the problem. “ I am truly fortunate at Highlands to have such wonderful clients. My success with these cases would not be possible without your dedication and hard work.”

When not at work, Dr. Lepitre loves to spend time with her family. She and her husband love to travel (favorite trip – Vietnam where they did a homestay in a very remote area). Back at home she is an avid hiker, skier and snowshoe enthusiast. She is also extremely proud of her two children and counts herself lucky that after finishing university they have returned to Vancouver to live and work.

And of course there is Liam, her wonderful quirky cat, who is full of personality. Liam came to her as a rescue when he was 4 years old. “Up until that time he had never been out of his little West End apartment, but he took one look at my wild backyard and was determined to broaden his horizons. The first time he managed to jump on top of the fence was a real chuckle. He’s never looked back and now I’m sure he thinks he’s king of his domain!”
