Martie is our Referral Coordinator for our cardiology and specialty surgery departments. Martie was born and raised in northern Minnesota. At 13, she had her first experience working in veterinary medicine when for two years she shadowed a local large animal vet in her home state. Martie subsequently worked for ten years as the Administrative Manager/Sales Rep for an animal vaccine company located in Woodland, CA, before joining VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic in 2015. 

Martie and her husband, Van, have been married for over 20 years and have three two-legged children: Robert, Rae and Corianne. They share their home with four four-legged "children": Kodiak, a 12-year-old Cocker Spaniel; Bear, a 10-year-old Cocker-Dachshund mix; Smokey, a two-year-old Australian Shepherd-Border Collie; and Yogi, a six-month-old yellow Labrador Retriever. In her time away from the clinic, Martie loves to camp, cook, craft, garden, kayak and spend time with friends, family and her two adorable grandchildren.
