Veterinarian, Medical Director
DVM
Dr. Hillary Butler graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph in 2005. After taking some time off to travel Europe she began working at our Rosedale Animal Hospital in June of that year. Having done some work at the Toronto Wildlife Centre and the Vancouver Aquarium seal rescue during her training, she expanded some of her interest in zoo medicine by doing a course in California on seal and sea lion medicine – just for fun!
The travel bug did not leave however, and after working for five years in Toronto, she moved to London, UK. While there Hillary worked at the Animal Medical Centre, but used the opportunity to travel as much as she could. Favourite spots include Rome, Dubrovnik, Istanbul and Prague. She still tries to go back to the UK once yearly for a visit.
Once back home in Canada, Hillary rejoined the Ontario Veterinary Group, working at our Secord Animal Hospital location before finally relocating to Mackay Animal Clinic in January of 2014. She then became the medical director of our facility, responsible for making product and medical choices for the clinic to optimize patient care.
When not at the clinic, Hillary can often be found at the movie theatre. She has an avid interest in writing and currently provides film reviews for www.liveforfilms.com. For the last few years she has been covering the Toronto International Film Festival, finally gaining media accreditation in 2015.
Hillary lives in Toronto with her dog, Lola, a (supposed) Havanese.
