Hospital Manager
A California native, Marna's desire to work with animals probably began at birth. Her mother fostered this shared passion, so she spent her youth riding horses and competing in reined cow horse, cutting, and reining events at a statewide and national level. Marna credits her horse years with teaching her the drive and dedication needed to succeed.
When it came time to decide on a career, Marna turned her focus to small animals and became a Registered Veterinary Technician. She spent the next 10 years as an RVT, receptionist, and Hospital Manager. Her experience included single doctor practice, emergency and critical care, and specialty medicine in San Francisco and San Jose, CA. The next 7 years were devoted to canine swim therapy (a modality which was in its early years) in Atlanta, GA. Swim therapy was also her first foray into owning her own business. When she returned to San Francisco, she purchased a large pet sitting and dog walking company, with a staff of 15. After about 11 years of managing that business, Marna longed to be back in the field of veterinary medicine, and the work she truly loved. So, in 2019, she returned to clinical practice as an RVT, receptionist, and supervisor, a first step in achieving her goal of returning to hospital management. The valuable skills and lessons she learned as a business owner will help her to succeed in the role of Hospital Manager at VCA Madera Pet Hospital.
Away from work Marna loves to spend time hiking in her back yard on the Presidio of San Francisco, playing catch and doing agility with her Australian Cattle Dog, Addie, riding her American Quarter Horse, Moondoggie, reading, watching movies, and cooking.
