Veterinarian
DVM
Dr. Kelly Unruh grew up in Olathe, Kansas with two younger siblings and a menagerie of pets. As long as she can remember, she wanted to become a veterinarian. She even has a journal from kindergarten stating she wants to be a "vetinarian" when she grows up. Throughout her years in high school and college, Dr. Unruh started her first job at Olathe Animal Hospital. Starting as a kennel assistant, then a receptionist, then as a veterinary assistant - her love for the animals and medicine continued to grow which solidified her decision to become a veterinarian.
Dr. Unruh received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Industry at Kansas State University. She then attended veterinary school at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. During her time in school, she worked at the ophthalmology department, performed research on dairy calves, and traveled to South Africa to assist with rhinoceros dehorning programs to prevent poaching. She has a special interest in ophthalmology.
Dr. Unruh and her husband, Andy just had their first child, Benjamin whom they are only slightly enamored with. They also have two dogs, Eli and Rudy. In their spare time, the Unruh family enjoys traveling, lake trips, and board games.
