Dr. Fred Cesana wanted to be a Veterinarian since the age of seven when he lived on a farm in Manchester, CT. After obtaining a BS degree from the University of Connecticut he went on to Michigan State University for his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. The next year was spent at Rowley Memorial Animal Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts where he did an internship and befriended Dr. Lyell Williams. Dr. Cesana then spent 6 months working in private practice in Avon, CT before opening Old Canal Veterinary Clinic in May of 1975. Over the past twenty-five years the practice had grown to four clinics but was later downsized to provide more personalized quality care.
As Hospital Director Dr. Cesana takes a personal interest to see that the clinics mission and policies are maintained. When not at the clinic, Dr. Cesana enjoys his two English Setters and three cats. He is also an avid collector of veterinary memorabilia, Indian relics and decorated stoneware. During his free time he enjoys visiting with his parents and two daughters, Jody and Jamie.
