Dr. Monica Hambalko is the Co-Medical Director and has been with VCA Peninsula since 2009. She is a San Diego native who attended UCSD, earning a B.S. in Biochemistry. She is a 2003 graduate of the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine. She became Fear Free Certified in 2019. 

In her spare time, Dr. Hambalko enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and their two Australian Shepherds, Kona and Indy, who actively compete in the fun dog sports of agility, rally, and obedience. She also enjoys reading, traveling, and SCUBA diving.
