Originally from Western Maryland, Dr. Mercier attended the University of Kentucky to study Marketing and Equine Sciences. Following graduation she moved to Blacksburg, VA, to attend the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. At vet school, her interest in equine sports medicine and reproduction led her to the world of sport dogs and canine reproduction. After spending part of her clinical year with canine reproductive specialists, she decided to make the transition to small animal general practice. 

While at vet school, she met her fiancé, and together they have acquired a small menagerie of pets: a small parrot, a Russian tortoise, a leopard gecko, two cats, and two Irish Setters. In her free time, she enjoys participating in dog sports, horseback riding, and attempting to keep houseplants alive.
