We are pleased to announce that our home hospital in South Salem (4053 Commercial Street SE) will be reopening for General Practice starting Monday, September 9. Our Primary Care team (General Practice only) is back and excited to see your pet for wellness, ongoing case management and minor illnesses. In the event that some diagnostics, including radiographs are needed, we may refer you to our River Road clinic in Keizer. Our hours at 4053 Commercial Street have been altered and we will be seeing patients for scheduled appointments Monday through Friday 8 am - 6 pm. We will be available on Saturdays for prescription or food pick up and phone calls, but will not have a veterinarian on the premises; Urgent Care services are still available at our River Road location (4975 River Road North in Keizer) on Saturdays 8 am - 6pm. The Urgent Care/Emergency and Surgery teams will continue to operate out of VCA River Road. Once the treatment and surgical spaces are completed at our South Salem location later this year, those teams will join the Primary Care division. We welcome you back to our hospital and look forward to seeing your pets in one of our renewed exam rooms. Please be aware there is ongoing work occurring in other areas of the hospital and occasional associated noise may be noticed at times.

Dr. Mandy Kaiser graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Veterinary program at Auburn University and first joined VCA with a rotating internship at our Animal Specialty Group in Los Angeles during 2018-19. She joined the VCA Salem Emergency Department in 2020 and has been providing care most weekends, citing that she loves being able to provide hope for pets in need who have few options when most other veterinary clinics are closed.
Dr. Kaiser is driven by witnessing the power of the human-animal bond and being able to be a part of maintaining and/or strengthening that with medicine and education. Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, she enjoys getting lost in nature, camping, hiking, bouldering, and exploring.
She shares her home with three of her patients – a dachshund named Churro, and two cats, Cassiopeia and Maneki.
In her time away from work, she can be found using scrap wood to make small creations such as furniture or art, re-furbishing older furniture, or painting.
