Born and raised in tropical Puerto Rico, Dr. Eric Martínez attended the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez campus, where he took part in multiple research projects. He earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Veterinary Medicine. During his time at LSU, he participated in National Institutes of Health-funded research, and presented at The North Carolina State University Summer Scholars. He also developed a passion for Tiger football (Geaux Tigers!), crawfish, and other delicious Cajun food.
After earning his DVM, he successfully completed a small animal medicine/surgery rotating and small animal surgical internship in South Florida. His interests include orthopedic and minimally invasive surgery, including emergency medicine. His long-term goal is to obtain a residency and become a board-certified surgeon. He is currently continuing his specialty training with a one-year small animal surgical internship.
In his free time, Dr. Martínez enjoys spending time with his wife, their two beautiful daughters, two dogs, and a cat. He also enjoys diving, sailing, and enjoying outdoor activities.
