Dr. Danielle Schneider grew up in Island Lake, Illinois. She spent her summers during high school working as a veterinary assistant and kennel technician at VCA Noyes under Dr. Zimmerman. She then attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in biology (Pre-vet) and a minor in public health in 2016. While in college, she raised and trained service dogs which sparked her passion for working dogs. She graduated from the University Of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine at Champaign/Urbana in 2020. While in veterinary school, Dr. Schneider took an interest in all animal species, but her favorite opportunity was working with a team to teach EMS and K-9 handlers to administer first aid to police K-9s injured in the line of duty. She assisted on a study to evaluate that training program and helped create a model for other veterinarians to use to train EMS and law enforcement officers. Dr. Schneider joined another VCA team in June 2020 and in May of 2021 Dr. Schneider graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago earning a Master's of Public Health.
Having owned a variety of exotic pets, Dr. Schneider continued that love in her professional life and would love to see your smallest members of the family. She is happy to treat birds (canaries, budgies, parakeets, and many more!), rabbits, mice, rats, guinea pigs, chinchillas, ferrets, turtles, hamster, gerbils lizards (bearded dragons, geckos, chameleons, and more!)
When Dr. Schneider is not at work, she enjoys reading and getting outdoors for camping, hiking, fishing, and SCUBA diving. She currently has two dogs that she loves to spend time with named Remy (Lab mix), Whiskey (English Lab), and her two guinea pigs, Winnie and Sabrina!
