Dr. Robyn Schmidt first moved to Alaska from Minnesota in 1999 to work for 4-time Iditarod Champion Jeff King. Dr. Schmidt was a dog handler for a number of world class dog mushers including Jeff King, Susan Butcher and Hans Gatt. After running dogs for many years, and working with those amazing athletes, she decided to go to veterinary school to become a veterinarian. Dr. Schmidt graduated from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine and returned to Alaska to work as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She still has a passion for Alaskan Huskies and sled dog racing. She has adopted retired racing sled dogs from the mushers she has worked for since 1999.
Dr. Schmidt is an avid hiker, camper and adventurer. She loves music, photography, viewing artwork, reading and traveling. During her off time, she loves to hang out with her friends and have adventures together.
Dr. Schmidt primarily examines dogs and cats, but in the past she has worked with dolphins, whales, sea turtles and raptors. Dr. Schmidt is passionate about preventive care and enjoys partnering with clients to ensure the best quality of life for their pets.
