Dr. Jena Stenberg grew up in Big Timber, MT, where she knew she always wanted to be a veterinarian. She graduated from Montana State University and later graduated from Washington State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Before joining VCA Amherst, Dr. Stenberg practiced as a mixed animal veterinarian for 8 years in rural Montana. Although she enjoyed working with all species, she is very excited to be focusing on small animals and helping keep the pets of Butte healthy.
Dr. Stenberg's veterinary interests include internal medicine, soft issue surgery, preventative health and behavior. She also has a passion for encouraging others to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She currently oversees our PIMA veterinary assistant and technician interns.
In her spare time, Dr. Stenberg enjoys camping and hiking with her family and dogs Emmy, Finn and Oreo. She loves spending time with her husband, Steven Knighten, son, Trace, and of course her cats, Percy and Shadow.
Fun Facts: In grade school and high school, Dr. Stenberg rescued and raised between 15 and 30 orphaned/bum lambs each year. She grew up with puppies, kittens, kids (goats), calves, piglets and four of her favorite siblings.
Inspired by: The human-animal bond that she learned about as a very young age growing up on a ranch.
