Dr. Norimar Pastrana-Negrón was born and raised in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. From a young age Dr. Pastrana showed passion for animals and volunteered at a local animal shelter. Encouraged by her father, her love for science and interests in medicine she pursued a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology at the AVMA-accredited program of the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus. Dr. Pastrana worked as a veterinary technician before attending Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine in Alabama where she graduated top of her class in 2018, and became a member of Phi Zeta Honor Society of Veterinary Medicine.
After graduation she relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada and practiced small animal veterinary medicine at Camino al Norte Animal Hospital until December 2023. Here she received training in dentistry, dermatology, ultrasonography, advanced surgery, endoscopy, emergency, among others. Dr. Pastrana has also served as a veterinary technology professor and is a current member at Veterinary Technology Advisory Committee at the Department of Veterinary Technology of the School of Veterinary Medicine at University of Ana G. Méndez in Puerto Rico. Her areas of interest include surgery, internal medicine, ultrasound, anesthesia and mentoring the next generation of Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians.
Dr. Pastrana cherishes spending time with her pets, Rubí (DLH), Ava (Golden Retriever), Boo (Chihuahua-Terrier mix) and Cooper (Schnauzer). Outside the hospital she enjoys baking, painting, and traveling. She is an avid Disney fan and one day hopes to visit all 12 theme parks across the globe.
As the Medical Director for VCA Boulevard Animal Hospital, Dr. Pastrana seeks to continue providing Standard of Care, implement medical strategies and be a passionate veterinary leader for our team.
