Dr. Katie Cox is originally from New Mexico. She developed a passion for animals at a young age and never lost her focus as she earned her undergraduate degree from New Mexico State University in Animal Science with a minor in Chemistry. During this time, she completed a nutrition internship at Henry Dooly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska, creating the diet book for the Reptile Dome. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University in 2015.
After graduation, Dr. Cox moved back to New Mexico where she practiced for a year before moving to Nevada. She practiced veterinary medicine in Nevada for 4.5 years but always missed Colorado. In 2021 her dream of living in Colorado finally came true and she is now "home" with family and friends.
Dr. Cox has always had an interest in ophthalmology, preventative medicine, and dentistry. When not at work, Dr. Cox enjoys spending time outside with her family exploring beautiful Colorado. You may find her hiking the many trails, fishing or riding her bike with her fiancé, Eric and her dog, Aspen. She also enjoys snuggling with her cuddly cat, Wallace.
