Our staff is here to help you with euthanasia and end of life decisions. There comes a time in the life of all pets when the possibility of a recovery to a comfortable existence is highly unlikely.
Caretakers of an animal must consider all possibilities to relieve the pet's suffering.
Will my pet feel it?
The only thing your pet will feel is the poke of the needle. If your pet has had blood drawn before, it is much the same thing. They will fall asleep and be mentally unaware when their breathing and heart stops.
What if my pet is anxious or nervous?
We offer a pre injection that is a combination of a sedative and a pain killer. It is given intramuscularly and works in 10-15 minutes. Afterward, your pet will be awake but drowsy and very relaxed.
How soon can I get in once I????????ve made the decision to euthanize?
We are very sympathetic to this decision and will work with you accordingly. We will get you in the day that you call (if you so choose). Appointments are always preferred so we can get a private room ready for you before you get here.
What crematory options do you offer?
We work with and trust Heavenly Acres for our crematory needs. They offer a group cremation where your pet would be cremated with others and buried at the cemetery, or they offer a private cremation where your pet is cremated individually and their ashes are returned to you. They offer decorative urns, paw print impressions, etc. Their website is: heavenlyacrespetcemetery.com. You may also choose to take your pet home for burial (see local regulations for your area).
Do you offer in-home euthanasia?
Yes. In-home euthanasia is more private and personal for you as well as more familiar and relaxing for your pet. This option is especially important for pets that are in too much pain or are too large to get in a car. If you would like crematory services afterwards we will help you make arrangements through Heavenly Acres. We only offer this service for our existing clients and patients when staff is available.
