Carley Somerset
RVT
Carley is one of our Registered Veterinary Technicians and is more commonly known at Kortright Animal Hospital as ‘Auntie Carley’ to all the animals that visit us. Carley completed her BSc in Animal Biology graduating with Honors and began working in Research as a laboratory animal technician at the University of Guelph. From there she went on to Ridgetown College and graduated top of her class in Veterinary Technology. She has now been with Kortright Animal hospital for 12 years and continues to love each and every day there. Her passion for veterinary medicine is clear in her compassion and care to all animals however she has a special fondness for providing comfort to those individuals that are not so ‘happy’ to see us to ensure they receive the care they need with the least amount of stress and fear. Nutrition is another area where Carley’s passion for health and longevity is seen. She has helped many pets achieve remarkable weight loss goals to lead much healthy more comfortable lives and help kittens and puppies grow and develop on the best nutrition available. When she is not at work being ‘Auntie Carley’ she is always on the go. She is currently training to compete at the Age Group World Championships for Sprint Triathlon representing Canada in 2021. Thus Carley’s active lifestyle fits with her two very active Australian Cattledogs, Jenny and Stevie, where they accompany her on daily hikes, runs, swims, canoe trips and camping!
