Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital

A PROUD HISTORY OF CARING FOR YOUR PET

The Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital opened on October 4, 2004. The collaborative vision of 20 local area veterinarians brought the hospital project to completion following five years of planning and discussion.

The need for emergency veterinary care in the westerly portion of the Greater Toronto Area was first recognized back in 1983 when the Mississauga Veterinary Emergency Clinic opened in a small house on Hurontario Street in Mississauga. The clinic’s purpose was to support family veterinarians in providing after-hours emergency care.

In the 1990s, the emergency service was relocated to a larger building on Mavis Road. Over time, a larger emergency facility was envisioned where pet owners could also receive specialty treatment by referral from their family veterinarians. The Mississauga Clinic was relocated and expanded into the site now located at 2285 Bristol Circle, on the Oakville Mississauga border.
