Dr. Allred came to VCA Oso Creek Animal Hospital in July 2002, after serving in the US Army as a veterinarian for 5 years. She graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional Veterinary College in 1997.
Dr. Allred has a passion for better pain management in our patients, and has been certified in veterinary medical acupuncture since 2014, an evidence-based form of acupuncture. She achieved her certification as a veterinary pain practitioner in 2016. In 2017, Dr. Allred completed her training in Animal Chiropractic through Parker University. Her certification in veterinary medical acupuncture and animal chiropractic has enriched and enhanced the way she examines and treats her patients, with an emphasis on calm, gentle, but thorough palpation and observation, and making a connection with the patient and the owner. The results she sees with chiropractic treatment, myofascial manipulation, dry needling, acupuncture and laser therapy have been immensely rewarding!
Dr. Allred has revolutionized dentistry at VCA Oso Creek Animal Hospital. She has pursued advanced training in veterinary dentistry since 2003 and performs many advanced dental procedures such as surgical extractions, oral fracture repair, interceptive dentistry, mandibulectomy, vital pulpotomy and root canal therapy.
Dr. Allred is a strong proponent of proactive, preventive medicine, both for her patients and herself!
An avid fitness and diet nut, Dr. Allred instructs flexibility and stretching classes in her spare time, competes in competitive dance, and she participates in sprint triathlons with her husband Duncan during the spring and summer. They have 3 dogs: a Japanese Chin named El Mojito Bandito Todo Rojo de la Jose Mugre, a street mutt named Rikki, and a King Charles Chin mix adopted from the city shelter named Corky Chucky Chunky Droopy Chuck Charles. They also have two cats: Apollonia, aka "Apple," the Siberian, and Anastasia, aka "Stassi," their partially paralyzed handicat. All of their pets came into their lives via rescue. Dr. Allred also proudly serves on the board and is a strong supporter of a local no-kill, no-cage cat shelter called The Cattery.
