Dr. McLean was born in Trinidad and Tobago, in the West Indies. She has lived and worked in the Tampa Bay Area most of her life. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL, in 1995. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree with honors from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in Gainesville, FL, in 2000. After graduation from veterinary school, she completed a one-year rotating internship in internal medicine, critical care, surgery, and emergency medicine at BluePearl Veterinary Partners (then called Florida Veterinary Specialists). She received the Florida Veterinary Medical Association Gold Star Award in 2012 for outstanding service to the veterinary community. She was president of the Hillsborough County Veterinary Medical Society from 2010-2012, and a board member from 2009-2012. She was also the secretary of the Hillsborough Animal Health Foundation from 2008-2012. Dr. McLean has participated locally in the Great American Teach-In since 2012. She is currently an active member of the Pasco County Veterinary Medical Association and AVMA. Dr. McLean’s interests are in senior preventative medicine, internal medicine, surgery, and feline medicine. Dr. McLean is a Certified Fear Free Practitioner and is trained in Feline Friendly technique.
Dr. McLean, her husband, and their two boys share their family home with several pets. She is active in her local and community church. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as camping, hiking, canoeing, and cooking. Dr. McLean’s philosophy is to treat animals and their families as if they were her own. She understands and appreciates the human animal bond and strives diligently to help the members of your animal family.
