Dr. Hovda received her DVM degree from Texas A & M University in 2015. After graduation, she completed a large animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at the Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Kentucky. Following that internship, Dr. Hovda spent 4 years working as a small animal veterinarian in both emergency and general practice. She then went on to complete a specialty internship in anesthesia at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Afterwards, Dr. Hovda stayed on at North Carolina State to finish a residency in anesthesiology and analgesia, before joining the VCA South Shore (Weymouth) Animal Hospital team as part of the Anesthesiology service in 2024.
Dr. Hovda is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia. Her special interests include mentoring, teaching locoregional anesthesia and developing pain management protocols.
