Dr. Salene Freeman is originally from Florida, but became a Jackson local in 2016 after completing her bachelor's in Biology and Chemistry from Georgia State University. She worked in Jackson at breweries, restaurants, the bowling alley, veterinary hospitals, and Teton Raptor Center for several years until she pursued her passion for veterinary medicine.

She graduated with her doctorate of veterinary medicine (DVM) from Oregon State University in 2023. While at OSU studying veterinary medicine, she took additional courses on diagnostic imaging such as ultrasound and advanced radiology. Additionally, she has completed multiple elective courses working with wildlife, exotic, and avian species. She is passionate about exotic/avian medicine and husbandry, internal medicine, surgery, and community outreach and education.

Outside of the hospital, she enjoys hiking, mountain biking, rafting, skiing, live music, and spending time with her husband Ryan, shepherd mix Mia, and lovebird Zippy.
