Subcutaneous Ureteral Bypass (SUB) Implant

Our surgeons offer subcutaneous ureteral bypass (SUB) implantation in patients with ureteral obstructions. This device is designed to maintain the flow of urine from the kidney to the bladder when the ureter becomes obstructed. An obstruction can occur secondary to ureteral stones, trauma, strictures, cancer, and sometimes infection. A SUB is placed surgically through the abdomen with fluoroscopic imaging to guide placement.
