Meet and Greet

To be accepted in our Doggie Day Camp Program, each Day Camp guest must:

  1. Complete a Pet Profile Form
  2. Complete a Day Camp Evaluation Form
  3. Be at least 12 weeks of age and have completed the first two series of vaccinations, including the Bordetella vaccine, Canine Influenza vaccine and the Rabies vaccine*.
  4. Be spayed or neutered (except puppies under 6 months)
  5. Attend and pass a Meet and Greet Day

We regret that for insurance/safety precautions, we cannot admit the following breeds into Camp: Pit Bulls, Bull Mastiffs, Cane Corsos, Presa Canerios, American Staffordshire Terriers. In addition, while not restricted, certain breeds (prey drive, herding, etc.) typically do not do well in the Day Camp setting such as: English Mastiffs, Akitas, Chow Chows, Bull Terriers, Boerboel, Shar-Peis and German Shepherds.

The Barkley Pet Hotel & Day Spa reserves the right to evaluate mix breeds of any of the fore mentioned breeds on a case-by-case basis. Every dog admitted into our camp area requires a behavior and temperament evaluation on his/her first day of camp. The safety and comfort of every dog entering our camp area is our top priority and we reserve the right to restrict admittance into day camp at any time.

Meet & Greet

Each dog needs to be professionally evaluated to ensure its safety and compatibility in the day camp environment.

Evaluation dogs must arrive during the opening morning hours (between 7-8:30 am Monday – Saturday or between 8-8:30 am on Sunday) because it is less stressful for the dog and it increases the chances for a successful evaluation. It is always better to have the “pack” form around the new dog rather than the new guy trying to conform to the already established pack.

Supervisors spend about four to five hours observing and evaluating your dog’s behavior. Dogs passing the evaluation may continue to stay and play all day. Dogs not suited for day camp will be given a suite to enjoy until owner is ready to pick up.

*Rabies vaccination is required for puppies at 12 weeks of age.
