Dr. Melea Fenley is from a small town called Johnson City, Tennessee, that is located in the Appalachian mountains. She attended the University of Georgia for her undergraduate studies and received a bachelor's degree in Animal Science. While there, she participated in infectious disease research with cattle for three years and spent her summers working as a veterinary assistant in a small animal clinic. She then went to the University of Tennessee for veterinary school in 2018 where she fell in love with shelter medicine and surgery. She volunteered her time to help with spay/neuter clinics and helped to provide services to the homeless and their pets.
Dr. Fenley has a Pekingese named Anthony who she rescued when she was 10 years old and a cat named Darla who is a retired research animal. In her spare time, Dr. Fenley loves to be outdoors whether that includes hiking, kayaking, or camping. She also has a love for music and trying new food.
Dr. Fenley is thrilled to start her career with the VCA Hometown family and cannot wait to meet you and your pets!
