Born in El Paso, Texas, Dr. Alva is excited to be back in the warm desert heat.

Dr. Alva attended Colorado State University for her biology and veterinary degrees. During this time, Dr. Alva was also a surgical technician which instilled in her desire to become a small animal veterinary surgeon. She pursued an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital in 2018.

Following her internship, Dr. Alva completed a surgery residency at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio before moving to sunny Arizona and joining VCA ARECA.

She has special interest in both soft tissue and orthopedic procedures. She also enjoys oncologic procedures and minimally invasive surgery. In her free time she enjoys hiking and cooking.
