Dr. Tessa Meland was born in Minnesota, but her family moved when she was young to Scottsdale, so she is proud to call Arizona home. She attended the University of San Diego where she earned her undergraduate degree in 2010. She graduated from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine with distinction in 2016. Following her graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Meland completed a yearlong internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida. She decided to suffer through the humidity a bit longer to complete a 3 year residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery at UF, which she completed in 2020. Dr. Meland is thrilled to be back in the Valley of the Sun.
One of Dr. Meland's favorite parts of her job is being in the operating room performing neurosurgeries on her patients in the hopes of improving their quality of life. However, she feels that client relationships and education on neurologic conditions are the key to helping her patients the most.
When not treating seizures or spinal disease at work, Dr. Meland enjoys traveling to visit family or explore new places. She is also a passionate hiker and has missed the mountains for the last 8 years! It must be mentioned that she has been an avid Phoenix Suns fan since she was 5 and looks forward to attending many sporting events in the valley.
