Dr. Arthur Mallock joined VCA Lloyd Animal Hospital in 1986 and since that time has been using his expertise and skill to do what he finds most rewarding about practicing veterinary medicine: "Being able to determine why a beloved pet is sick and then being able to make him or her well again."
Originally from Brookline, Massachusetts, Dr. Mallock graduated cum laude from Brandeis University with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry. He earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and has a special professional interest in otology (the study of ear disease). An experience early in Dr. Mallock's career demonstrated how important this branch of medicine can be.
"During my first year in practice at VCA Lloyd Animal Hospital, a patient was presented to me for a second opinion," Dr. Mallock remembers. "The dog had been tentatively diagnosed with a brain tumor. My examination revealed that although a brain tumor was a possibility a more likely diagnosis was an infection of the inner ear. I treated the dog with antibiotics and the dog quickly had a full recovery and lived happily for another 10 years."
Dr. Mallock is married to Tina, a registered nurse, and together they have two sons, Ben and David. The family cares for a cat named Kitty, a chinchilla name Chachi and a snake. In his free time Dr. Mallock enjoys golfing and traveling with his family. He is also an active member of his synagogue.
