Dr. Kristen Blumenstock's childhood in Cooperstown, NY included experiences with the insects and small animals usually brought into the house by her family's cats that others were too afraid to handle. She also remembers being chased by dairy bulls and cows while traipsing through fields in her hometown. Dr. Blumenstock also took care of horses at a local barn in exchange for free lessons.

Dr. Blumenstock graduated magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a bachelor's degree in biology. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and joined VCA Lloyd as an associate veterinarian in 1994. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and her areas of professional interest include surgery and acupuncture.

"I enjoy working as a team member to determine the best course of action for an individual patient," she says. "I especially enjoy following patients from first visit throughout life, getting to know them as 'my kid'."

She and her husband Dan have two children, Jade and Amber. The family cares for five dogs: Aoife, Odin, Mariah, Triton and Phantom. She enjoys spending time kayaking, hiking, camping and gardening. On rainy or cold days she loves to read.
