Dr. Sandra Minors received her DVM in 1987 from the Ontario Veterinary College where she graduated with distinction. For two years following her graduation, she worked as an associate in general small animal practice for two separate Ontario clinics.
From 1989 to 1990, Dr. Minors completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the OVC. From 1990 to 1991 she worked locums in small animal practice in the Greater Toronto Area before entering the Ontario Veterinary College’s DVSc program in cardiology. She completed her DVSc in 1995. She obtained board certification with the American College of Internal Medicine, Subspecialty of Cardiology in 1996.
From 1995 to 1999, she developed and worked a very successful referral practice initially at the Bronte Road Animal Hospital in Oakville, and then at the Morningside Animal Clinic in Scarborough.
From 1999 to January 2005, she was a clinical cardiologist at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Ontario Veterinary College. In addition to managing the cardiology cases, she provided clinical training to undergraduate and graduate students in cardiology.
Since 1997, Dr. Minors has authored several published articles related to veterinary cardiology. She is also involved in ongoing research on cardiac technologies and drug treatments and was one of the principal investigators of the new cardiac drug, pimobendan. She expects to participate on an ongoing basis in other therapeutic drug trials related to various cardiac disorders such as mitral valve disease.
Dr. Minors joined MOVEH in 2004.
