Andrew Lowe
Veterinary Specialist

Dr. Lowe was born in Peterborough, Ontario and grew up in the surrounding area. He has always loved animals and at age seven, after discarding his initial inclination to become a zookeeper, Dr. Lowe settled on new path when he listed “veterinarian” as his future career in his very first school year-book. He hasn’t looked back since.

Dr. Lowe graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2003 where he developed a strong interest in dermatology during his final year of training. After a one year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the OVC from 2003-2004, Dr. Lowe moved to Illinois where he completed a three-year residency in veterinary dermatology. Dr. Lowe also pursued a Master of Science degree in feline dermatology while at Illinois and obtained both his Master’s, as well as became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology, in 2007. From 2007-2012 Dr. Lowe worked in private practice as a veterinary dermatologist at a referral and emergency hospital in Appleton, Wisconsin. Dr. Lowe has been with the Alta Vista Animal Hospital since May of 2012. He is happy to be back in Ontario and is looking forward to working with the pets and people of the Ottawa region.
