Erin Harrison
Veterinarian

Dr. Erin Harrison is a native of Windsor, Ontario. After earning an Honours BSc in Biological Sciences at the University of Windsor in 2004, she completed an Honours DVM at the Ontario Veterinary College in 2008.

Dr. Harrison worked at the OVC for four years in the Avian and Exotic Service, with clinical rotations in the Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Service (ICU). In 2013, she obtained her GDipl (Avian Medicine and Pathology) from the OVC, with a clinical emphasis on critical care and exotic companion animal medicine.

Dr. Harrison’s professional interests include emergency and critical care, rabbit medicine, animal behaviour, small mammal oropharyngeal endoscopy and dentistry, and exotic animal medicine, and she is currently working towards ABVP Exotic Companion Mammal eligibility.

An avid participant in the education process, she has presented at the Canadian Parrot Conference, BunFest, and the OVC Animal Welfare Forum In 2008 she assisted in making rabbit handling videos at the OVC (http://www.wormsandgermsblog.com/2008/11/articles/animals/other-animals/safe-rabbit-handling-for-you-and-your-rabbit/). She also coauthored an emergency first aid avian manual and assisted in the design of the ParrotMedics first aid kit (http://www.parrotmedics.ca).

 

Personal interests include travel, art and spending time with her family, including her rabbits Oliver and Meggie (Nutmeg), and her dilute tortoise-shell cat Loki. In her spare time, she continues to work with her second service dog in training, Clancy.
